Plan Your Visit
Art Alley is a placemaking conception turned reality that opened on October 1, 2021 in Downtown Lynchburg. At the intersection of Commerce and 11th Street you'll find a once-overlooked alley in the heart of our city, transformed into a beautiful space for locals and visitors to enjoy. Opening Night
Art Alley officially opened to the public on October 1, 2021. Downtown was electric that night — a vivid example of how public art and placemaking bring people together.
The Creation of Art Alley
The community will find vibrant outdoor galleries, colorful art and light overhead, majestic murals, and outstanding street art. Art Alley elements were designed by professional artists from all over Central Virginia. In early April of 2021, we posted a call for artists and had over 40 individuals submit their work to potentially be part of this project. This bright, exciting attraction created a destination that supports local businesses, encourages tourism, and improves the quality of life for our residents.
