CALL FOR ARTISTS
Art Alley Outdoor Gallery 2021
Downtown Lynchburg Association (DLA) is a non-profit organization that strives to create a strong, vibrant, and welcoming downtown with a unique and historic character. DLA is currently working to launch a beautification project known as Art Alley, which will take an underutilized alley/road (11th Street at Commerce) and transform it into a place to showcase public art. This project will include an outdoor gallery which gives local artists the opportunity to create unique, inspiring artwork that can end up publicly displayed on the Bluffwalk, helping to transform Downtown into a more vibrant, creative, welcoming and beautiful environment for the whole community.
The outdoor gallery will be regularly refreshed (annually) with the artworks of up to 8 local artists ranging from high school students to professional creatives. Art pieces will be digitized, transferred into vinyl decals, installed on panels, and attached to the building located at 57 11th Street. Artists whose piece has been selected to be displayed downtown will receive an award package and honorarium of $400.

Artists must have written permission to use any copyrighted material.
Artwork will remain the property of the artist, however, each program participant must sign and return an Artist Contract.
Tips for Artists
Think big! Design concepts that translate well onto a larger scale.
Artwork might be cropped to fit a ratio of 2:1 portrait view.
Encourage the highest standards of workmanship, showing significant time investment and thought in design, color, contrast, and content.
Submit a portrait-oriented and landscape-oriented entry – artwork will be digitized and printed to fit a 4’ x 8’ panel.
The larger the original artwork, the better the definition when it is enlarged to fit the panel.
