In this 1920’s German sci-fi silent film, the year is 2026. On the surface of the Earth is a Utopian city, however, there is a world beneath it inhabited by poorly treated workers. When a young and affluent man named Ferder (Gustav Frohlich) discovers the dour city and comes by a disturbing scene, he is set on helping the workers. He also befriends defiant teacher Maria (Brigitte Helm) much to the chagrin his authoritative father (Alfred Abel). Directed by Fritz Lang, written by Thea Von Harbou and produced by Erich Pommer.
