Wings, Beer, & Football

Fiery reds, vibrant oranges, and deep rich browns. No, we’re not describing foliage on the Blue Ridge; we’ve got wings on the brain! We love a good PSL, but the change in weather has got us hyped for football with friends, a cold glass of Oktoberfest, and plenty of flats and drums to go around. College or pro, no matter your team, why not root for them while taking a tour of the tasty options in Downtown Lynchburg?

Scroll down to start planning your weekend!

{RA} Bistro

1344 Main Street

Looking for traditional wings? Grab an order of bone-in wings tossed in house-made buffalo hot sauce served with celery for just $11. Instagram user @Aleisha7103 says that “RA Bistro definitely has the best wings in Lynchburg.” While you’re at it, enjoy a refreshing Bistro Beer, {RA}’s house pilsner (Natty Bo) for $3. Can’t beat that!

Badger on Main

1118 Main Street

It’s time to bring on a world of heat! If your motto is “the hotter, the better” then you should check out the wings at Badger on Main. Work your way through sauces like spicy bbq, spicy Thai, and habanero dragon until you reach DEATHLY EVIL (bwahaha). If you are a dry-heat fan, jump on the ghost pepper rub to light your mouth on fire. Calm it down with a bowl of fries covered in beer cheese or a fried oreo as a reward.

Market at Main

904 Main Street

Okay, we admit that Market at Main isn’t known for having a wall of tv’s, but their wing game is still strong. So, if football is a high priority, grab your wings to-go. Otherwise, slow it on down to enjoy your wings (6 for $6.99 / 12 for $10.99). The house-made barbecue sauce is the perfect topping for these traditional breaded wings.

The Water Dog

1116 Jefferson Street

The Water Dog does NOT mess around here. They brine all of their wings in pickle juice before frying. Plus, all of their rubs, sauces, and even their pickles are hand-crafted in-house. If you are on the fence about how to order your riverside wings (one pound for $11), let us steer you to the java jerk - this complex rub crafted with coffee will deliver a slight sweetness and subtle kick.

The Depot Grille

Arriving in orders of 10 or 20, we are strong supporters of the bone-in wings from The Depot Grille. However, if you want the same kick with a bit more meat, you cannot go wrong with their famous chicken tenders in buffalo style. They might be listed as a “lite bite” but we swear there’s enough for two.

Barb’s Dream Hut

1219 Main Street (inside the Lynchburg Community Market)

IYKYK. Open Tuesday through Saturday until 2pm, you’d better not sleep on the crispy wings from Barb’s Dream Hut. To be honest, everything tastes better when she puts her loving touch on it.

Sweet, spicy, or tangy - no matter how you like your wings, you can find them downtown . Be sure to share your favorite flavor with us by tagging @downtownlynchburg.
