DOWNTOWN MOVIE NIGHTS ARE BACK THIS SUMMER!! This year we have SIX different movie nights along with themed activities and food vendors for you to enjoy. These FREE events will be held at Riverfront Park as the City of Lynchburg has allowed us to utilize half of the park as well as the adjacent splash pad during construction. Frequently asked questions:

Q: When should I arrive?

A: Spaces in Riverfront Park will fill up on a first come first-served basis. Remember to bring a blanket or lawn chair and arrive early if you want a spot towards the front. We would suggest anywhere between an hour to two hours before sunset.

Q: Where do I park?

A: Downtown Lynchburg offers free parking on nights and weekends both on-street and in lots! Check out our parking map to locate your best option.

Q: What time will the movies start?

A: The movies will begin shortly after sunset. Be sure to come downtown early to make an evening out of it by shopping at local stores, grabbing a drink from a brewery, and enjoying food from delicious restaurants!

Q: What if it rains?

A: Rain dates are scheduled for the following day (Saturday). In the event of rain, we will announce the cancellation by 10:00 am the morning of the movie. You can find this information on our Instagram and Facebook event pages.

Q: Can I bring my own food?

A: Riverfront Park (and other public areas) will be designated as “picnic-style” meaning that you can bring your own food from home or grab takeout from one of many great downtown restaurants.

Q: Will there be restrooms?

A: YES! Downtown Lynchburg Association will provide extra portable toilets and hand washing stations at Riverfront Park for your use.

Q: What else is there to do in Downtown Lynchburg?

A: OH SO MUCH! We have lots of events listed on our calendar and some great attractions. You could climb an indoor wall at Rise Up Climbing or rent a bike at Bikes Unlimited for a ride on the trail. Looking to relax? Visit museums and galleries or pamper yourself with a spa visit!

    written permission from the Director of Parks & Recreation.

  5. Motorized vehicles are prohibited except in designated parking area or by permit.

  6. No vehicles allowed in the City parks after posted hours of operation.

  7. No littering or glass containers allowed.

  8. The collection, destruction, and/or removal of plants, animals, minerals, or historical/cultural items are

    strictly forbidden.

  9. No camping or open fires permitted except in areas designated for such use.
